When the Camera Shows Something Clearing Can't Fix.

Drain cleaning resolves blockages. But when a sewer camera reveals a collapsed pipe section, root intrusion through cracked joints, bellied pipe that traps waste, or a line that's deteriorated past the point of clearing — the problem isn't what's in the pipe. The problem is the pipe itself.

That's where sewer line repair and replacement begins. It requires a different set of equipment, a different crew configuration, and a contractor who can manage excavation, traffic control, utility coordination, and municipal permits — not just run a cable machine.

California Coast Plumbers carries the full capability in-house: sewer tractors for large-diameter mainlines, loaders and excavation equipment, dump trailers for debris haul-off, jackhammers for concrete demolition, and traffic control for right-of-way work. We own the equipment, maintain it, and deploy it with our own crews — no subcontracting the heavy work.

Sewer line repair and replacement requires more than a cable machine and a camera — it requires tractor sewer units, loaders, jackhammers, traffic control, and permit coordination. California Coast Plumbers has maintained that capability in-house since 1997, serving commercial and industrial properties across Southern California.

We own the heavy equipment — sewer tractor units for 6-inch through 12-inch-plus mainlines, loaders, dump trailers, and jackhammers. When we mobilize for a repair, the full capability arrives with us. No waiting for rented equipment.

Camera assessment precedes every repair and follows it. We document the line condition before we excavate and confirm the repair afterward — footage and written report in your property file, start to finish.

Right-of-way work — traffic control, city permits, utility locating, and municipal-standard restoration — handled in-house. One contractor from camera to backfill. No coordination gaps.

Sewer Line Repair for Every Commercial Property Type

Retail Centers & REITs

Shared sewer mains serving multiple tenants — a single mainline failure affects the entire center. Repair coordination includes tenant notification, after-hours scheduling, and parking lot restoration.

Industrial & Logistics Parks

Large-diameter sewer mains under loading docks, warehouse slabs, and distribution yards. Heavy vehicle traffic accelerates pipe deterioration. Repair often requires traffic control and structural backfill.

Office & Corporate Campuses

Multi-building campuses with aging underground sewer systems. Capital planning requires condition reports, repair cost projections, and phased replacement schedules that align with budget cycles.

Multi-Family & HOA

Shared sewer laterals and mainlines serving multiple buildings. Root intrusion from mature landscaping is the most common failure mode. Repair must minimize disruption to residents.

Our Process

1

Camera Inspection & Condition Assessment

We run a sewer camera through the line to identify the exact location, nature, and extent of the damage — collapsed section, root intrusion, offset joints, bellied pipe, or deteriorated material. Camera footage and a written condition report are provided before any repair work is proposed.

2

Scope Definition & Repair Plan

Based on the camera findings, we define the repair scope: spot repair versus full section replacement, excavation requirements, traffic control needs, permit requirements, and estimated timeline. You approve the scope before we mobilize equipment.

3

Excavation, Access & Repair

Our crew mobilizes with the equipment the job requires — loaders, jackhammers, dump trailers, shoring, and the pipe materials specified in the scope. We excavate to the damaged section, remove the failed pipe, install the replacement, and make the connections. For right-of-way work, we coordinate traffic control and utility locates in advance.

4

Post-Repair Camera Confirmation

After the repair is complete and backfilled, we run the camera again to confirm the new section is properly graded, the joints are tight, and flow is restored. The confirmation footage goes into your property file alongside the pre-repair assessment.

5

Site Restoration & Documentation

We restore the excavation site — backfill, compaction, concrete or asphalt replacement as required. The final documentation package includes pre-repair camera report, scope of work, materials used, post-repair camera confirmation, and any recommendations for adjacent sections.

Heavy Equipment. Diagnostic Tools. Full Excavation Capability. All In-House.

Every piece of equipment required for commercial sewer line repair is owned, maintained, and operated by our team. When we dispatch, the full capability arrives with us — no waiting for rented equipment, no subcontracted excavation crews.

  • Sewer camera & electronic line locator — pinpoint damage location and depth before excavation
  • Tractor sewer unit — large-diameter mainline work on 6-inch through 12-inch-plus commercial lines
  • Loader & excavation equipment — trenching, pipe access, and material handling
  • Jackhammers — concrete slab and asphalt demolition for below-grade access
  • Dump trailer — debris removal and spoils haul-off from excavation sites
  • Traffic control equipment — cones, barricades, and signage for right-of-way work
  • Shoring & trench safety — OSHA-compliant trench protection for deep excavations
  • Hydro-jetter — pre-repair line clearing and post-repair flow testing

We Match the Method to the Problem — Not the Invoice.

Spot Repair

When the damage is localized — a single cracked joint, a short section of root intrusion, or an isolated offset — spot repair addresses the problem without replacing the entire run. Lower cost, faster completion, minimal excavation.

Section Replacement

When the camera shows damage extending across multiple joints or a significant length of deteriorated pipe, section replacement removes and replaces the affected run. Restores full capacity and extends the useful life of the system.

Full Line Replacement

When the pipe material has reached end-of-life — Orangeburg, severely corroded cast iron, or clay pipe with systemic joint failures — full replacement is the capital investment that eliminates recurring repair costs.

Condition Report Only

Not every camera inspection leads to immediate repair. For capital planning and due diligence, we provide a documented condition report with repair recommendations, estimated costs, and a priority timeline — so you can budget and schedule on your terms.

We Respond Same Day for Active Failures.

When a pipe failure is happening right now, we dispatch a P1 emergency crew with the equipment to isolate the failure, stop the damage, and begin repairs the same day.

The Contractor Facilities Teams Keep on the Vendor List.

“We had a 6-inch mainline under our parking lot that kept backing up every few months. Previous contractor kept clearing it and charging us each time. California Coast Plumbers ran a camera, showed us the collapsed section, and gave us a straight repair scope. They excavated, replaced the section, confirmed it with camera, and we haven't had a backup since. Should have called them first.”

David R.

Property Manager — Retail Center, Orange County

“The condition report they provided was exactly what our ownership group needed for capital planning. Camera footage, written assessment, repair options with cost estimates, and a priority timeline. We were able to budget the work into our next fiscal year and schedule it during our slow season. That's how a commercial contractor should operate.”

Lisa M.

Director of Facilities — Corporate Campus, Los Angeles County

“A sewer main collapsed under our loading dock on a Wednesday afternoon. California Coast Plumbers had a crew on-site within two hours, ran a camera to confirm the location, and had the excavation started before end of day. The line was repaired and the dock was back in operation by Friday. In logistics, downtime is money — they understood that.”
